On January 31, Trillium Lakelands District School Board(TLDSB) teaching staff, educational assistants, and early childhood educators from all schools across the Board will be participating in professional development in-person, focusing on report card writing/reporting.
Below is the format that will be taking place throughout the day for each group:
Elementary
Length: Full day
Topic: Report card writing/reporting

Presenter(s)/facilitator(s): School administrators
Description: The day is dedicated to report card preparation, reporting to parents/guardians, and ongoing communication between schools and home. Designated early childhood educators are expected to collaborate with Kindergarten teachers in preparing the communication of learning reports for Junior and Senior Kindergarten students.
Secondary
Length: Full day
Topic: Board and school improvement planning for student achievement and well-being
Entity hosting: TLDSB
Presenter(s)/facilitator(s): School administrators
Description: Schools will review their progress towards Student Improvement Plan goals and make refinements to their action plan, if necessary. Schools will reflect on semester one and consider adjustments to instruction and assessment in order to meet the needs of all learners for semester two.
Educational assistants
Length: Half-day
Topic: Mental health and well-being

Presenter(s)/facilitator(s): TLDSB Mental Health Team
Description: The TLDSB Mental Health team will provide virtual presentations on Mental Health 101, School Mental Health Emotional Coaching (Part 2), and Empathic Strain and Self Care.
Casual/occasional staff (all employee groups) – South
Length: Full day
Topic: Health and safety, violence prevention, policy, procedure, and Strategic Plan review

Presenter(s)/facilitators(s): Human Resources Services
Description: Casual staff will be provided with Occupational Health and Safety Training, as well as Violence Prevention Training. Further, casual staff will be provided an overview and an opportunity to discuss their roles in relation to the Board’s Strategic Plan. Part of the day will include a review of Board policy and procedures that are relevant to the work of casual/occasional staff across all employee groups. There will also be an opportunity for staff to participate in a question and answer period with their staffing officer on topics, including Atrieve, the Board’s intranet “Our Dock”, and understanding their collective agreements.
