Media release: TLDSB’s newest superintendent of learning

Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) is pleased to announce Tanya Fraser as superintendent of learning after two years as an associate superintendent. Fraser has responsibilities for all aspects of Grades 9-12 Curriculum Services, Kindergarten to Grade 12 Mental Health Services, Kindergarten to Grade 12 Safe Schools, emergency response, and working with the G7 Student Senate* during the 2025-2026 school year.

Fraser is no stranger to TLDSB with over 23 years of experience in schools across the Board, in both elementary and secondary panels. Fraser was first hired as a special education teacher at Huntsville High School, and later became a vice-principal then principal at various schools across the District Municipality of Muskoka. In her role as associate superintendent from 2023-2025, Fraser’s portfolio in mental health and well-being, and safe schools spanned both elementary and secondary schools across TLDSB. Having completed her Masters of Education and Supervisory Officer’s Certificate, Fraser is well-prepared for this role.

“Tanya is widely recognized for her genuine passion for continuous learning and her commitment to fostering an environment of academic success,” says TLDSB director of education, Wes Hahn. “Known for her positivity and creativity in leadership, Tanya has demonstrated a direct support of the TLDSB 2022-2027 Strategic Plan through integrating curriculum and the work of safe and caring schools, all while drawing more attention to the importance of learning about mental health and the impact this makes on students and staff.”

“I am enthusiastic about the challenges and opportunities this portfolio presents, and eager to collaborate with the senior team and trustees to support staff and foster student success in schools,” says Fraser. “I look forward to bringing these responsibilities together and know that by thoughtfully integrating mental health, safe schools, and curriculum supports, teaching and learning will be enhanced where it matters the most – in the classroom.”

Fraser lives in Bracebridge with her husband and is a proud mother of twin boys who are currently in post-secondary education. She enjoys running, road trips, singing in the community choir, and spending time with family and friends.

*The TLDSB G7 Student Senate is a group of students made up of one representative from each of the secondary schools, including the Virtual Learning Centre, elected by their peers to help communication between students and bring student issues to the Board of Trustees.
