Swearing in of new student trustee
Alex Goltz, a Grade 12 student from Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School was sworn in as the new Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) student trustee by chair of the Board, Colleen Wilcox, and director of education, Wes Hahn. Goltz signed a declaration of her intent to carry out the duties of a trustee for a one-year term, and will work alongside student trustee, Taliah McNelly, and the TLDSB G7 Student Senate to represent and advocate for students.
Director’s update
Director of education, Wes Hahn, welcomed everyone back from summer break and acknowledged a new member to the senior team, acting associate superintendent of learning, Dawn Sudsbury, who will be responsible for Kindergarten to Grade 12 Curriculum Services.
Hahn highlighted some reflections from the messages shared at the TLDSB administrator meeting last week, particularly the connections to equity and mental health, while noting that embedding equity into all the work TLDSB does for all students and staff is a focus for all senior leaders.
Hahn also shared the ways in which learning continued throughout the summer for students and staff, including summer school, cooperative education, and voluntary professional development opportunities for staff.

Governance and Policy Committee Report
A recommendation was brought forward for trustees to ratify the committee’s recommendation to change the Public Meeting of the Board start times from 6 to 5:30 p.m. This recommendation was approved by trustees and will take effect for all future Board Meetings starting Tuesday, September 23.
