Professional Activity Day – September 3, 2026

On September 3, Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) teaching staff, educational assistants (EA), and early childhood educators from all schools across the Board will be participating in professional development devoted to keeping schools safe. Below is the format that will be taking place throughout the day for each group:

Topic: Keeping Schools Safe

Presenter(s)/facilitator(s): School administrators
Description: Professional development for all staff will encompass health and safety, violence prevention and intervention, and cybersecurity. Staff will review protocols for addressing behaviour, classroom culture, office referrals, walking talkie communication, communication with parents/guardians via telephone by the end of September, and progressive discipline. Additionally, staff will engage in a review of equity of outcomes and fostering discussions aimed at cultivating supportive and discrimination-free learning environments.

Optional sessions will include an introduction to the life promotion and suicide prevention protocol, and strategies for supporting student attendance.

Summer break information

Beginning the week of July 6, the TLDSB Lindsay Education Centre is open to the public Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Muskoka Education Centre is closed to the public over the break.

All school buildings will be closed to the public for the summer break beginning Monday, July 6, reopening on Tuesday, September 1.

The first day of school for both elementary and secondary students is Tuesday, September 8. Note, Kindergarten students will have a staggered start.
