Director’s recognition award

Extraordinary contributions to Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) by staff, students, school volunteers, or community members are recognized at each Public Meeting of the Board by the director of education, Wes Hahn. The following individual was nominated for their outstanding commitment and dedication to TLDSB.

Jennifer Lee, a parent volunteer at Ridgewood Public School, was recognized for her 15 years of service to the community even after her own children had moved on from the school.

Lee continued her tireless work, ensuring families received support when they needed it. Particularly over the holiday season she has directly supported 225 families through her relentless solicitation of donations from local businesses and her ability to bring community partners together.

The difference Lee has made is immeasurable, creating countless moments of
holiday happiness that might not have otherwise existed. We extend our deepest appreciation to Lee for her exceptional dedication and the enduring legacy she has created. She has not only made a tangible difference in our community, but has also set a powerful example for her own children and for everyone who volunteers in our school.

Administrative updates

Director’s update

Director of education, Wes Hahn, noted the three most recent fundraisers that contributed greatly to the Feed all Four Fund – Jersey Day, a special online silent auction, and a holiday loonie auction. Since the fund’s inception in December 2020, 780 requests to support students and/or their families have been fulfilled.

Hahn extended congratulations to former TLDSB superintendent of learning, Jay MacJanet, who was appointed the director of education for Near North District School Board earlier this month. Hahn also formally welcomed Jennifer Clark to the role of acting associate superintendent of learning with the responsibility for Indigenous Education.

TLDSB EQAO Results 2024-2025

Superintendents of learning, Dawn Sudsbury, Tanya Fraser, and Nikki Train, and Jennifer Clark each provided trustees with an update on the 2024-2025 Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) results for TLDSB students. The superintendents walked through the results for elementary, secondary, self-identified as Indigenous individuals, and students with special education needs, noting the successes and areas for improvement throughout.
