Muskoka Falls Public School students take part in Georgian College’s Sticks and Stories event

On May 27, Muskoka Falls Public School students had the opportunity to travel to the Georgian College Muskoka campus in Bracebridge to not only learn about the history and significance behind the ancient game of lacrosse, but also build their own lacrosse sticks.

A special thank you to Rama First Nation member, Joe Valliere, and Canadian National Field Team and author of Tales of a Lacrosse Troubadour, Jim Calder, for their presentation at the Sticks and Stories event.

“I’m so grateful that our students were able to take part in this. When Indigenous teachings and history are woven into hands-on, relevant activities, it really helps students connect more to the learning. Not to mention that it was a fun way for elementary students to get a taste of the Georgian College experience,” said TLDSB experiential learning consultant, Katie Albisser.
